The school was founded in 1964 and features three campus locations as well as online classes with virtual courses. The main campus of the school is located in Newtown, Pennsylvania. There is also the Upper County campus in Perkasie, and the Lower City campus in the town of Bristol. There are also several satellite locations all over the city that offer classes sanctioned by Bucks College.
The Newton campus is found in the former estate that the college purchased in 1965 from Temple University. The school’s administrative headquarters are found in the George F. Tyler Mansion in the Newton campus. In 1987, this location was added to the National Register of Historic Places. In 2007, the school began construction on the campus adjacent to the original campus to build new structures that added to the housing and added more classrooms as well as state of the art laboratories. There is an average student body of just over 4,000 full time students and an additional 5,000 part time students that attend the school.
The school’s mission is to provide the community made up of diverse population wit accessible, convenient, affordable and comprehensive education. This includes training and cultural opportunities that will help students to be trustworthy and effective in the workforce or in continuing their studies in affiliated 4-year schools. The Bucks County Community College offers almost 90 programs of study. These programs can lead to an associate degree or certificate. Students have the choice of continuing their education with a affiliated 4-year school or they can choose to enter directly into the workforce. THe school colors are navy blue and sky blue.
